Forward Stroke Journey

July 1 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Forward Stroke Journey

WHO: This class is intended for developing paddlers looking to refine their forward stroke while enjoying a journey on the San Francisco Bay or ocean.

Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites for the class but to get maximum benefit and learning from this class we strongly recommend taking an L3: Skills Development Class (currently called Sea Kayaking II at California Canoe & Kayak) or receiving equivalent training prior to this class.

INSTRUCTOR: Mike Kowalsky

WHAT: Join us on a Forward Stroke Journey as we spend the day reviewing basics of and refining the forward stroke, all the while going for a journey on the San Francisco Bay or out under the Golden Gate Bridge – the destination depending on conditions and on the interest and experience level of the participants. We will start off the day taking a quick video recording of each participant’s forward stroke, which will serve as a baseline to be compared with another recording taken near the end of the day. This class will include on-land and on-water exercises, where students get the chance to work with partners to practice critiquing various components of the forward stroke and receive pointers in return, under the watchful eye of an instructor.

WHEN: We will meet at 9.00 AM and be ready to launch at 9.30 AM. Arrive earlier if you need more time to get ready!

WHERE: We will launch from and return to the public boat ramp at Horseshoe Cove (Fort Baker), Sausalito.

COST: $129.00 (Minimum enrollment – 3, Maximum enrollment – 5)

Please note: Cost does not include kayak and gear rental. Boats & Gear can be rented from our Partners.
